Eclipse Endings & New Beginnings

Today, September 7, marks the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse (peaks at 2:11pm PST) in the Sidereal sign of Aquarius ~ this event opens a portal for transformation, revelations and sudden shifts ~ the effects of which will be felt for a couple of weeks and closes around the upcoming Solar eclipse on the 21st.

The eclipses are when we experience the powerful effect of the Lunar nodes, Rahu and Ketu. Rahu sits conjunct the Moon in Aquarius today, blocking its glow and direct connection to the Sun, opposite in Leo. This effect is a cosmic event that naturally signifies a thinning of the veils allowing energy to easily pass between worlds. Our intuition is heightened and our spiritual connection with “the other side” can be electric if we tune in. Sudden insights, revelations and quantum leaps are often experienced during these times.

Today’s eclipse occurs in the Nakshatra (star) known as Uttara Bhadra Pada, which his represented in Vedic Astrology by the funeral cot and therefore, naturally symbolizes transitions. In this Nakshatra we often experience the dying away of many things in life, including old habits, old belief systems and old untruths, ultimately revealing that which has been hidden and kept from us. This is also a time when relationships can suddenly shift, new people are often met and souls who have been waiting for this time move on. On every level of experience we are reminded that all endings become a new beginning as we move through it. It may not be easy to let someone go, but if we can see how the Divine Intelligence of the Universe is at work through it all, remembering that when the human journey ends, the soul’s journey continues and there is a new beginning on the other side, it does help us to move through these times with greater perspective, ease and grace in our hearts.

In many ways this whole year (as mentioned at the start of 2025) is a pivotal time of deep transformation and growth for all. Everyone will experience it differently and possibly in many different ways. (What it means specifically for you can be seen through analyses of your birth chart.) Personally I have experienced some intense endings and new beginnings this year myself that are still unfolding and am curious to see what the next couple of weeks reveal because collectively this is also an intense time for humanity and Aquarius is all about the collective.

Look for threads from earlier this year around the Spring eclipses season that may be tying up loose ends or gathering greater momentum, clarity and insights now as this eclipse portal opens up new perspective on your life’s current themes.

One of the themes of the current eclipse season is the cosmic push to align our personal desires and needs with the collective, greater good of ALL ~ this can mean a “reality check” for many people. It can sometimes come as a shock to the system but the invitation is to consciously take on a higher, evolutionary mindset that, in a mature fashion, aligns our personal desires with what is best for all by choosing to open ourselves to expanded states of consciousness and greater levels of awareness from within. Certain world leaders (represented by Leo directly opposite) may find themselves challenged to reveal hidden and even dark agendas as the collective rises in greater demand of truth. People in position of authority and power may find themselves face to face with their own shadows.

However, don’t believe everything you hear out there either.. Rahu is a master manipulator and governs propaganda and media, convoluting information until we don’t know what is true. Trust that all will be revealed and know that the ability to discern fact from fiction, or truth from lies… comes from being centred and grounded within. Every human being is like an antennae for information ~ essentially we all are human lie and truth detectors, but.. we have to be tuned and in alignment in order to know how to interpret and discern the data we are constantly receiving. This is what daily spiritual practice is for… if we don’t take time to regularly tune, align and clear, receptors are overwhelmed and channels of intuition cannot run clear. Perhaps now more than ever, during this “age of information”, it is imperative that we tune within because “out there”.. no one knows what to believe anymore.

Aquarius may be one of the most unconventional signs in the zodiac, but it is ultimately interested in the greater good. As a fixed air sign, ruled by Saturn, Aquarius is all about innovation and change but also about discipline and service. It’s a bit of a contradiction in some ways because air cannot really be “fixed”, and yet, we see how our thoughts have an air like quality while the mind can easily become rigid, fixated and narrow in its focus. We need the unconventional, the uncommon and even the unexpected things in life to keep our minds open to greater perspective and understanding. Otherwise we run the risk of “losing the plot” along the way and life gets much harder than it needs to be.

Rahu is the Northern Lunar node that represents our desires, the forward moving energy of life that draws us into the future realms of existence. While Rahu represents delusion and can be obsessive, without Nature’s Divine Desire to EVOLVE, rooted in the essence of every living being, life would not exist on Earth, the Galaxy or the Universe. It is the pulse of existence that, according to Vedic Wisdom, is felt through Rahu’s desire for experience. The challenge we face as humans is learning to discern which desires are coming from the insatiable hunger of the ego and which are true to our cosmic hearts and therefore aligned with Nature and therefore, the greater good of ALL.

In some ways then eclipses are also a correction point in the cycles of life. Things that are out of alignment and no longer serving, or have simply reached a natural ending and karmic transition point, will be released to transmute and transform as needed. Sometimes we are forced by sudden events in life and our resistance to change is often what makes it so difficult, but if we can centre ourselves, observe and be open to flow with change then we can avoid being pulled under the rapids. We can instead flow along the rivers of change with a little bit of awe and wonder, allowing our own, unique sacred path to unfold before us with each new step taken. While it is always important to honour our feelings and our process as we move through life’s events, when our hearts are open to feel, our minds are then open to receive the insights we need for healing and things do become a lot easier as a result.

Simplicity is key. Truth is revealed in stillness. Much to our common disbelief, the answers we seek are not found “out there” but deep within our own, still, cosmic hearts. The eclipse days and season (between today and the Solar eclipse) are an invitation for going within; for taking some well-deserved breaks from all the noise and simply listening to the birds for a while… whether you choose to meditate, contemplate, walk in nature, sit at the beach or on your cushion, what matters is that you take some time to find stillness and connect to that still centre within ~ your very own “eye of the storm” around which this entire galaxy of YOU and your life revolves.

After all, each of us is our own Universe ~ no one else will ever really ever know what life is like for you as an individuated point of consciousness, a microcosm of the macrocosm, a speck of star dust, no two snow flakes alike on Earth… but, the great truth, only realized through direct experience of one’s true Self, is that we can all connect to everything and everyone by going within to that centre, to the Source from which all life and living is born.

On a practical note, eclipse portals are not considered great times for making big purchases or life decisions. The nature of the eclipse is to block light (information); therefore, things are often hidden from us. If you can wait, wait… but, if you must move forward on something big over the next two weeks, do your research thoroughly and ask for help to see things you might miss on your own.

Transits

Mars remains in Virgo, bringing continued attention to health and wellness within the collective as many topics are seemingly up for hot debate and will continue to evolve as we move through this portal and beyond.

Venus remains in Cancer, where the emotional side of relationships is heightened, and there may be greater energy and awareness around finances to do with the home and our relationship with the mother. A wonderful time for observing the beauty that is all around us and accessing deeper creative wells within our own divine nature.

Jupiter remains in Cancer brining expansion, innovation and abundance into many of our lives. Continue to watch for advances through technology and creative innovation. Careful of “over-thinking” here as there can be a push and pull between Jupiter’s slow-paced, deep wisdom and Gemini’s fast-paced thinking and creative spontaneity.

Mercury is speeding through Leo with the Sun and Ketu, heightening the intellectual games that we play with ourselves and each other, but also bringing the opportunity for expanded self-awareness and creativity as well as breakthroughs and success in business ventures.

Saturn Retrograde remains steadily, turning the deep subconscious, cosmic waters in Pisces, pushing things that have been ignored, repressed, suppressed, and hidden to the surface, further supporting the themes of this eclipse season and well beyond over the next two years as Saturn will stay in Pisces until 2028.
