FULL MOON in Sidereal CAPRICORN & SHRAVANA NAKSHATRA

August 9th Full Moon is known as the Sturgeon Moon among First Nations traditions. It is a time for honouring the great cycles of life. A time when many things come Full Circle…

Moon conjunct Pluto in Capricorn, opposite Mercury (R) in Cancer marks a “tipping point” in affairs to do with the heart, the home, the Mother and.. the government. Mars sits in Virgo exact opposite of Saturn (R) and Neptune (R) conjunct in Pisces ~ this intense opposition of energies - Mars is impulsive and yet wants perfection in Virgo, while Saturn is slow and methodical and seeks to bring stability in the deep waters of boundless Pisces - is likely to create tensions within relationships and within ourselves. One part of us wants to act now and the other part wants us to wait. There is a “push and pull” energy challenging many of us in different areas of life. Patience is key right now as things we may have been avoiding or suppressing bubble up and ask for our attention.

A Moon so bright as this one has much to reveal, much to resolve and much even more to remember. Shravana Nakshatra is represented by an ear and is all about listening to the unspoken messages in life… the way Nature, the Universe and Soul communicate .. not through words but through symbols & synchronicities. That’s the language of Spirit and how we tune in to the deeper layers of reality.

This Full Moon watch for “FULL CIRCLE” throughout the next month ahead… leading us into September eclipse season… moments that guide us to grow along the spiral of evolution because they help us see something familiar from a whole new perspective… one that shifts and opens up many other aspects of reality… they bring insight, clarity, sudden realizations and an expanded sense of awareness and consciousness. This Full Moon illuminates and reveals things that have been hidden.. if any tension has been brewing beneath the surface, this Full Moon energy will see it rise to the surface, illuminate what needs to be seen and maybe even bring things to a head.

August began with Mercury retrograde in the Sidereal sign of Cancer ~ the sign of the home and the Mother. Mercury directs on the 11th but stays in Cancer until the end of the month. There may have been inner conflict between thought and emotion, what we think and what we feel, but these things should begin to clear up after the Full Moon offers new insights and clarity that resolves inner conflict. After an extended retreat in Cancer, Mercury moves through the karmic knot at the transition point from watery Cancer into fiery Leo at the end of August. Mercury will speed through Leo offering some insightful and clever solutions to recent challenges.

Jupiter and Venus conjunct in Gemini offer an interesting flavour to the month. Both are Guru planets but each reflect consciousness in very distinct and different ways. Together in the most playful sign of Gemini, Jupiter’s wisdom is sometimes clouded by over-thinking. Meditation is supportive always but especially this year and now ~ this is an opportunity to really take one’s practice beyond the scope of the mind and deepen into the infinite capacity of the heart’s inner knowing and deep wisdom.

Venus in Gemini is very playful, social and loves to explore new ideas and make new friends. There may be a tendency to over-indulge, especially if one is strongly feeling the intensity of the tensions mentioned above - indulgence may seem like a great idea in the moment, an escape from that feeling of overwhelm, but only leads to more stress in the aftermath of overdoing it. So be aware and of course, allow yourself to relax and unwind, but also try to find healthy ways of alleviating stress and stay open minded to new opportunities coming your way. Venus moves onto Cancer August 20th ~ feelings will have an opportunity to express with an open heart.

SUN moves into its own sign of LEO August 16 - September 16th

If you’re born between these dates, in the Vedic Sidereal system of Astrology, your Sun sign is LEO - Happy Birthday! The Sun’s transit through its own sign is usually a powerful time for leaders, but this year Ketu is in Leo, bringing a certain unpredictable and karmic quality to its transit through Leo. Ketu’s spiritualizing effect corrects ego and arrogance. Leaders out of integrity with their role may find themselves toppled. Leadership in general is tested for its integrity. Ketu does not tolerate the prideful nature of ego-centric rulers. Conversely, those who lead from a heart-centred place, who serve for the highest good of all may find themselves rewarded with newfound insight and a deeper sense of inner knowing and clarity. Leaders are challenged to reveal what is really driving them and some may even be stripped of their titles.. after all, I heard it once said that integrity is what you do when no one is watching, not while you’re “on stage”… and yet, as followers of Astrology’s wisdom, we know that the Cosmos is always watching and we are never truly alone ~ the sooner we realize this, its seems, the more honest and humble we become.

NOTE for LEOs:

Leo Ascendant and Leo Moon signs are likely to go through some rather significant, “ego-death” type of experiences over the next year as spiritually liberating Ketu transits the Sun’s sign. (Don’t know your sign?… message me to find out) Anytime Ketu transits one’s Ascendant sign, the way we see ourselves is up for honest review. There is a desire to withdraw from the world, go within and discover inner truth. This isn’t always comfortable, especially if one has been suppressing a lot of emotion, sacrificing one’s own self care for others, or allowing the ego to dominate one’s life path, but… it is a rebirth that ultimately awakens authentic expression, heart-centred living, dharma and Divine purpose. It is a time for connecting deeply and intimately with Spirit in sacred ritual and a very important time to have a spiritual mentor / coach to help guide the journey of what is often called the “dark night of the soul”. It is one of the most powerful and transformative periods in anyone’s life. The work is deeply healing and intensely rewarding if understood from spiritual perspective.

NEW MOON 🌚 in Leo, Magha Nakshatra

August 22 sees the Moon join the Sun at 7degrees of Leo ~ still too far from Ketu to create an eclipse (just around the corner on September 7th), but still a deep, dark Moon in Magha Nakshatra ~ completely in the sign of Leo, “Magha” translates as “mighty”, “magnificent” and “the most important” and is represented by the “royal throne”. So we can see that it is known as a powerful symbol of authority and honour. The lion is the King of the jungle after all, and in this Nakshatra, those in positions of leadership and authority are often born. Relationship with the Father can also be highlighted. Magha is ruled by Ketu, which brings an interesting spiritual and karmic aspect to this royal star. There is a great wisdom in this for great leaders are one’s who lead from the heart and in the interest of the greater good for all. A lion in the jungle does not take more than is needed, ensuring the rest of the jungle animals also have enough to eat. Integrous leaders do not put their needs above the needs of those whom they are meant to serve ~ something many of our current world leaders seem to have forgotten and ignore.

What I find particularly interesting about this New Moon is that it seems to be acting as “a preview” for the upcoming September eclipse season which is going to bring the energies from this past Spring’s eclipse season full circle. As mentioned above, the Sun’s transit through its own sign this particular year is affected by Ketu’s presence and this alignment happens once every 18years, which is another cycle that can reveal patterns if we tune in. As the world becomes more and more transparent with AI and global community through technology, humanity is moving through another profound, paradigm shift in reality. This is a 900 year cycle that reveals a distinct pattern in human evolution. How it all unfolds is dependent on each of us doing “the work” to heal and centre within, to step into our heart’s authentic power so we can anchor in the energy needed to create a future that exists in alignment and in harmony with the sacred that is this beautiful planet and this life.

Saturn Retrograde ~ July 12 - November, 2025

Saturn entered Pisces in May and will stay in this deep, watery sign for 2.5 years. (Read all about this important transit HERE.) Saturn in Pisces is a transit that only happens every 30 years and brings a welcome reality check to the spiritual aspects of our lives. Especially during retrograde, Saturn in Pisces asks us to review our spiritual practices and ask, is this working? Are my practices bringing me greater levels of self-awareness, joy, abundance and love into my life? Is there a greater sense of equanimity and presence in my every day life? Am I healing and becoming more authentically whole or am I just going through the motions of something I said I would do…?

And, if you don’t have a daily spiritual practice, now is the most amazing time to start. Ultimately having the discipline to start your day with a simple practice that allows you to tune into Spirit and your highest sense of self, is a gift you are offering your present, your future and your past self.

This is a critical time to be asking ourselves, what supports our growth in the highest? The world is moving through huge disruption and change. Jupiter in Gemini brings massive opportunities, growth, expansion and evolution in technology. The cosmic alignments of current times are disruptive in nature representing a a 900 year cycle and a pattern that can be traced throughout history ~ this pattern represents a paradigm shift in consciousness and therefore, in reality as we know it to be. It is absolutely nothing to fear, in fact, the more we embrace change, the more we grow and benefit ourselves, but it can be very challenging which is why our daily spiritual practices are paramount to moving through with grace and ease.

Saturn’s 4 month retrograde period through the Nakshatra of Uttara Bhadrapada is going to bring necessary endings to many things, personally and collectively. This is a time for deep reflection, revision, review and to realign ourselves with our highest inner truths moving forward. A wonderful practice is to ask: where do I see myself in 6months, 1 year, 5 years? and then move backwards from that vision giving yourself steps and goals along the way to fully embodying that vision. Journal about it and visualize what you see in your heart ~ as your inner world shifts, the outer world realigns itself to reflect that inner reality ~ it has to because that is cosmic law, but we have to practice it, daily and embody it, fully.

In Reflection…

This month’s energy has that intense underlying current of “push and pull”, making it very challenging sometimes to know which direction to take. There’s a part of us that feels like turning within in stillness and silence, and there’s another part that wants to engage, act and expand, possibly with a sense of urgency. It’s important to remember our breath ~ deep breaths in and out will help us ground and centre throughout the day and bring us back into a state of expanded awareness.

This is a time to practice patience and the art of allowing. I remember a teacher once saying to me that impatience is our unwillingness to accept what is in the moment. So if there’s traffic, or our flight is delayed or we just can’t seem to focus and wrap up a project we are determined to finish, rather than getting upset or frustrated with ourselves, most often the very best thing we can do is take a deep breath and accept what is… as a practice this brings flow back into a situation that often feels stuck. When we find ourselves determined to break out of a challenge, we first have to let go of wanting it to be any other way than it is ~ only then, when we surrender to what is, can our state of consciousness shift and reveal, with clarity, the way from frustration to freedom.

Remember that allowing doesn’t mean things stay the same. Surrender is not the same thing as giving up. We often think that if we accept what is and practice the art of allowing that we are giving permission to something we may not want, but what we are really doing is putting ourselves back into a neutral gear. It is only when we are in neutrality and equanimity, without attachment to outcome, that the cosmic flow can flow through us again…

As long as we stay in resistance to what is, we remain stuck. We get jammed in this energy of great opposition often because we are scared of accepting what is ~ we don’t want to accept what we don’t want and that’s totally understandable but, until we acknowledge and accept what is, we cannot effectively create change. In resistance we cannot see clearly because we are hyper focused on the perceived problem. Resistance drains our energy and we become incredibly disempowered.

The wisdom in the art of allowing is being in the flow… a position of great power because it creates the freedom to choose. Many things in life we cannot control happening, but we can always choose how we respond to what is. Allowance draws more energy into our consciousness and expands our field of perception ~ we can see a greater field of possibilities and become empowered to choose.

Wishing you all a beautiful month ahead. If you would like to know more about how these intense and exciting astrological alignments are playing out for your own life, reach out and book a reading. Just like lighting a candle in a dark room, when one is able to see life’s events with the illumination of the cosmos’ wisdom, everything one is experiencing becomes a lot more clear and meaningful. The rope that we thought was a snake in the dark, turns out just to be a rope and we realize, there is nothing to fear.

September offers great expansion and energy following the eclipse cycle ~ if you’ve been following your chart and the astrology, many great insights are coming your way as we shift into a new season and a new way of seeing and setting ourselves free.

With infinite love & prayers for healing, joy, abundance and peace

Om Shanti Shanti Shanti
