Let it burn…

This New Moon.. let it burn..

NEW MOON: MAY 16th, 1:30pm PST in Taurus, Krittika Nakshatra

In the ancient Vedas, Agni (fire) is revered not just as a physical element, but as the supreme, all-pervading, life-giving divine energy of the Divine. Agni represents the power to illuminate & warm, as well as to purify, transmute & destroy. Because fire always burns upward, the Vedas describe Agni as the divine messenger between humanity & the cosmos ~ carrying our offerings & prayers from the finite to the infinite realms of consciousness.

In the yogic chakra system Agni is located at the navel centre, the Manipura chakra ~ the seat of will, or willpower. Fire gives us the power to digest & alchemize life. Agni represents the inner light of consciousness, spiritual awakening & transformation.

In the modern world, we have forgotten our sacred relationship with fire. The light of the open flame has been replaced by illuminated screens, and we seek answers from guru google while overlooking the living, cosmic intelligence of Spirit. And yet, fire remains…

This new moon in Krittika Nakshatra is an opportunity to reconnect with the spirit of fire. The Krittika lunar mansion holds the power to “cut & burn” away the negative, the old, all that which no longer serves us on the path forward. The energy of the next fortnight may carry a certain intensity, an aliveness, a spark.. it may come with some pretty strong highs and lows as the flames of the fire dance amidst the winds of change, but one thing is certain ~ it is an opportunity for release not to be missed.

The cosmic wisdom of this sacred moment is to sever ties with the people, situations and beliefs that no longer nourish your evolution. Anything that diminishes your light, drains your life force, or feeds upon your energy instead of helping you rise belongs in the fire. Offer it to the flames and let it burn…

Every New Moon is an opportunity to plant new seeds. It is the darkest point in a monthly cycle of equal light & dark. This is part of the Moon’s medicine ~ to learn to dance in the dark as much as the light and embrace the many shades and phases in between the two. But this new Moon is something very special.

Moon in Taurus

The Moon is exalted in the sign of Taurus, which means its influence becomes strongest in this moment of its travels through the zodiac. But why does the Moon love Taurus so much?

Taurus is an earth sign ruled by Venus, deeply sensual and intimately connected to Nature. Pop astrology often reduces Taurus to clichés ~ indulgent, stubborn, materialistic, or obsessed with luxuries ~ yet this misses the deeper essence entirely.

The Moon loves being in here because Taurus grounds the mind back into embodied reality through authentic sensual experience: nourishing food, meaningful company, bare feet upon the earth, loving touch and nature’s quiet kiss itself… In Taurus, the Moon - the mind - feels steady, connected, nourished and held.

NOTE: If your Moon is in Krittika Nakshatra in Taurus, know that you are someone people can depend on ~ if you can overcome the shadowy tendency to get stuck in low energy and stubbornness at times, know that your steadfastness & commitment is a strength that can turn you into the eye of the storm, grounding and supporting those around you in remarkable ways. Your mind stays bright as long as you keep your prana vibrant & your creative fires of passion burning bright!

A Pivotal Moment of 2026

During this darkest lunar phase, the Moon sits somewhat pinned between Saturn and Mars on one side, and Jupiter, Venus and Mercury on the other. One can imagine the deep karmic weight of Saturn intensifying the force of Mars, whose fiery momentum propels the Moon toward the more expansive and life-affirming dimensions of our lives.

These is tremendous power here for manifesting dreams, desires and new possibilities ~ but the message is clear: the old patterns, attachments and identities that once held you back cannot pass through these gates of renewal with you.

It is a time for radical honesty, for truth itself is a sacred fire ~ one that burns away illusion in order to nourish growth. Fire carries the grace of renewal: the possibility of new life emerging from old ashes. Some things can be repaired. Some situations will evolve & transform through conscious effort & compassion. But there are also certain things which, if we are truly honest with ourselves, simply need to burn.

Energy itself cannot be destroyed ~ we know this. Yet fire possesses the sacred power to transmute energy into something entirely new. This alchemical process is available to us now.

Where do you need to release control?
What do you need to let go in order to see what lays ahead?
How can you surrender what you think you know in order to discover something more?

Perhaps you light a candle and, with a quiet prayer & intention, write down all that you are ready to release before offering it to the flame. Perhaps you are fortunate enough to gather around a bonfire beneath a night sky, dancing, shaking & surrendering old energy back to the Earth. You may practice Breath of Fire to awaken the inner fires of digestion & transformation, or sit in meditation to expand the flame of inner awareness itself.

On the other hand, this is also an extraordinarily auspicious time for stoking the fires of our sacred dreams and deepest heart’s desires. Allow the flames of passion to burn brightly with clarity, purpose and presence.

The seeds planted during this window hold the potential to grow far beyond this single lifetime, which is why it is so important to become still enough to listen deeply. Meditate upon what Nature itself is longing to express through you now, for Nature always supports that which is aligned with evolution, growth and expansion.

This is something the Yogis have long understood. Through Sadhana (daily practice), we tune ourselves to the deeper intelligence of life ~ refining awareness, awakening Shakti and aligning the individual self with Spirit. In doing so, we become less driven by unconscious habit and more available to the living current of creation itself.

The Sacred Fire

In Vedic Spirituality, sacred fire acts a physical & spiritual doorway between worlds. Sacred fire (yagya) is used in ceremonies, in healing rituals and in communication with our ancestors & guides. Agni is a living, conscious expression of Spirit offering its medicine to those humbly wishing to connect, transform & heal.

Fire is within and all around ~ we simply need to tune in, to remember this sacred relationship & allow it to nourish & guide us along the path.

Fire shines most brilliantly in the darkness, making this New Moon a powerful opportunity to reconnect with this divine source of cosmic intelligence ~ allow it to nourish your senses and deepen you reconnection to yourself, to one another and to the living Earth.

Whether you are feeling into your past and the anchors that have been weighing you down or, you are dreaming of a bright future filled with joy & expansion, feed the flames with love & let them burn…

Om Shanti Shanti Shanti, Hari Om Tat Sat
